Residence to the ‘Marquis of Santillana’ back in the 15th century, the building has now been carefully renovated into this delightful 5-star hotel. With such an intriguing history you will feel as if you have stepped back in time but with all the comforts of the present day.

The original oak staircase (made from a single tree trunk) is an impressive sight upon entering the hotel. Although fully equipped hotel with all the latest facilities there is a good balance between luxury, tradition and comfort.

The perfect short break.

Private car park, exceptionally friendly staff, beautiful clean room and excellent breakfast.

Would have preferred a kettle to a coffee maker but that is probably a typically English gripe!

The location, the room, the staff and the service were beyond our expectations. Loved it!

The room was furnished with beautiful antiques and exotic furniture. The bathroom was huge and well equipped. Appreciated the coffee maker too - something that we did not encounter in many hotels in Spain.

We loved everything!

Wonderful

Large room, modern bathroom, tasteful decor. The porter and the receptionist were extremely courteous and professional.

The rooms facing the front of the hotel get a lot of noise from the street (throngs of pedestrians during the day and then garbage trucks at 7am) as well as from the large outdoor restaurant across the street.

This hotel is a gem. It was one of the highlights of our trip to northern Spain. Everything was exquisite and well appointed. The staff was so helpful and friendly. It deserves its 5 star rating.

Luxurious stay in historic house ,with fantastic staff and service.

Large beautifully decorated room,tea/ coffee facilities,generous breakfast,big bathroom,bar for an evening drink,very central to village. The staff in particular were so lovely,and made great recommendations for evening meals.There was also a beautiful garden.

Wonderful stay!

Very well equipped room, spectacular Christmas decoration, very attentive and friendly staff, exquisite breakfast. The location, both within the town and with respect to different tourist spots in the region: 10 The hotel itself is dreamlike and the gardens are a real spectacle. Without a doubt, 100% recommended!

We highly recommend this charming hotel.

First Santillana del Mar is a charming town and this hotel is part of this charm. Our room was large and extremely comfortable. The staff was very helpful providing information about dining the evening we arrived. The breakfast was in a lovely location and provided many options.

Must visit- Magestic elegance in comfy cozy spaces.

Beautiful old building, great ambiance and decor. Very elegant. Plush. Great buffet breakfast. Comfy bed and linens. Spacious. Truly a spectacular place.

Poor lighting in bathroom though. Other than that, cold stone walls that are to be expected in a stone building 6 centuries old.

Absolutely stunning hotel. The staff were fabulous. The room was amazing and the breakfast was superb. The staff were very attentive to your every need. We sat in the lounge by a log fire enjoying a drink in the evening. Secure parking a plus

The location was perfect, the staff were lovely and so helpfull.

The only downside is the rooms were very noisey, you could hear every word people were saying in the room next door.
